Close-up of the table's surface that is composed of six U-Touch interactive touchscreens seamed together to create the world's largest mobile interactive table — it is 12 feet long, 5 feet wide and 34 inches tall. The surface was designed by New York firm, Pentagram, in collaboration with the SCAD team.
U-Touch and SCAD teams load-in the solid steel table base fabricated by Milgo Bufkin. The streamlined shape was designed by SCAD's Executive Director of Design and Construction, Martin Smith, and made from a single sheet of metal that has been folded together and painted.
SCAD UX Designer, Vijay Prabhakar, works on nuancing the user interactions on the touch surface.
Museum patrons gather around the table to explore the collection as well as interact with each other. The table serves as a central area of student and tourist activity.
“Guest books" line the entry way of the SCAD Museum of Art. Visitors can sign-in and leave comments. Entries are curated on the SCAD Museum of Art social media outlets.
